What is "Goods to Person"?
In the “Goods to Person” picking model, the operator remains at their workstation while the automated system delivers the goods to the picking station. This approach enables higher throughput, better work organization, and a more consistent level of performance in highly complex warehouses.
When does G2P make sense?
The G2P approach is used in warehouses with a high volume of individual orders, a wide range of items, and short delivery times. It is typically applied in e-commerce distribution centers and advanced 3PL systems where every second of an operator’s time is critical.
The Work Principle
Robotic shuttles, AMRs, or conveyor systems retrieve containers or transport boxes from designated storage locations and transport them to the picking station. The operator takes only the quantity needed for the current order, and the system returns the container or sends the next one.

Both models address the same operational problem: order picking in a warehouse, but through different movement logic. In the G2P model, the automated infrastructure handles the movement of goods while the operator remains in a fixed position.
In the P2G model, the operator moves through the storage zones along an optimized route, while the system provides structured guidance through each picking operation.
